I have a National City Gift Card, so why am I directed to this PNC branded website? [back to top]

National City is now a part of PNC Bank. You can continue to use your National City Gift Card until the balance is depleted or the card is expired. There are no changes to the terms and conditions or usage of the card. You can continue to check your balance, review transaction history, and access important Terms and Conditions at this website. If you do not use the full amount before the card expires, you can call 1-866-462-5972 to request a check for your remaining balance. Please note that, after the card expiration date, an expired card monthly maintenance fee will be assessed monthly if there has been no activity for the previous twelve months. The Visa Gift Card is a prepaid card that carries a fixed cash amount determined by the giver at the time they purchase the card. The Gift Card can be used to purchase goods and services everywhere that Visa debit cards are accepted. Each time the gift card is used the amount that is spent will automatically be deducted from the balance remaining on the Gift Card.

No. The Visa Gift Card is a prepaid Visa card that is accepted at millions of locations that accept Visa debit cards for purchases.

What is the difference between a Visa Gift Card and store issued gift cards or gift certificates? [back to top]

The Visa Gift Card can be used everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted for purchases. With store issued gift cards or gift certificates, your purchases are generally limited to the store location(s) that issued the gift card or gift certificate. In addition, each gift card comes with a level of security, which cash and gift certificates can't match. If the card is ever lost or stolen, the cardholder simply notifies the bank promptly to cancel the card and request a replacement card.

Cards purchased in a branch do not need to be activated.

You can activate your Gift Card by calling 1-866-462-5972 toll free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Make sure you have your 16-digit gift card account number ready, along with the 3 digit code from the signature panel on the back of the card.

Can I make a purchase for more than the amount remaining on the Visa Gift Card? [back to top]

It is important to know your balance before you begin to make a purchase. Many merchants will permit you to use the card for part of the purchase price and pay the remainder with cash, a check or another card. You simply need to tell the cashier how much of the transaction should be assessed to your Visa Gift Card and how you will pay for the remaining balance.

Depending upon the merchant's return policies, the merchant may credit your Visa Gift Card or provide you with a store credit.

What should I do if a merchant declines my Gift Card? [back to top]

It is possible the card's available balance was less than the purchase amount. To avoid these situations know the balance on your card and inform the merchant of the card's remaining balance and use another form of payment to pay the difference.

Some merchants - for example, restaurants, mail-order companies, rental car companies, taxis, barber and beauty shops, health and beauty spas, hotels, and cruise lines - require that the Gift Card's available balance is greater than the purchase amount to ensure sufficient funds for tips or incidental expenses.

Can I use my card for Pay at the Pump gasoline purchases? [back to top]

We strongly recommend that you proceed inside and pay the attendant prior to pumping. Using your card at a 'pay at the pump' gas station requires a minimum balance of $75. However, only the actual amount spent will be deducted from the card. If you don't have a $75 balance, you can prepay with the cashier before you begin to buy gas.

Yes. You must register your card at this website prior to making online purchases. To register your card, login and click on ‘Register Card’. This will ensure the card is registered to you for online purchases. To update your personal information, click on ‘Edit Profile’.

If your Gift Card is embossed with your name, then it is possible that the address on your card is different than your current address. Online and telephone purchases require that the "billing address" for your purchase match the address on file for your Visa Gift Card. You can confirm your address by logging into this website and clicking on ‘Edit Profile’ to view/update your person information.
